Executive Summary

The HPL-1 Hydraulic Set Retrievable Production Packer is a large-bore, hydrostatic-set packer designed for 9 5/8” casing, offering enhanced flow capacity, efficient wellbore isolation, and long-term reliability in production, injection, and zonal isolation applications.

Its hydraulic activation mechanism eliminates the need for tubing manipulation, allowing for precise deployment in low hydrostatic head wells and high-volume production environments. The expanded internal diameter minimizes flow restrictions, optimizing reservoir performance and artificial lift efficiency, particularly in ESP and gas lift applications

The double-grip design with hydraulic hold-down pistons ensures stability under high-pressure differentials, while the mechanically locked pack-off force maintains a secure seal throughout the packer’s operational life.

Detailed Description

HPL-1 Hydraulic Set Retrievable Production Packer – Large Bore Design for 9 5/8” Casing

The HPL-1 Hydraulic Set Retrievable Production Packer is a large-bore, hydrostatic-set, double-grip packer engineered for 9 5/8” casing, providing enhanced flow capacity and efficient wellbore isolation for production, injection, and zonal isolation applications. Designed to maximize flow efficiency while maintaining well integrity, this packer is set hydraulically by applying tubing pressure, eliminating the need for mechanical tubing manipulation. The expanded internal diameter minimizes flow restrictions, making it an ideal solution for high-rate production and injection wells. Once set, the multiple packing element systemensures a mechanically locked, long-lasting seal, maintaining pack-off force throughout its operational life.

To prevent movement under differential pressure, the hydraulic hold-down pistons engage after setting, while the body lock ring secures the setting force, ensuring bottom-hole pressure variations or tubing contraction do not affect the seal. The large bore design allows for unrestricted flow paths, improving overall reservoir performance and artificial lift system efficiency. This makes it particularly valuable in ESP, gas lift, and other high-flow applications, where maintaining maximum production rates is critical.

For retrieval, operators can use a straight upward pull or an optional right-hand rotational release for controlled removal, reducing the risk of stuck tools and minimizing intervention time. With its high-capacity flow path, secure hydraulic setting, and efficient retrievability, the HPL-1 packer for 9 5/8” casing is an optimal solution for operators looking to enhance well performance, reduce pressure losses, and maintain long-term well integrity.
